ABOUT

I'm Eric Taylor

My passion for software development began well before I even considered computer programming and software development as something I could use to solve problems. I have noticed or experienced these problems on some level in my life and 20-year employment history. As an insurance agent and an owner of my own social media marketing business, I consistently found myself loving the process of solving problems. The greatest frustration I have experienced professionally in that time has been the lack of tools at my disposal to effectively solve problems that would arise in a given day. One recurring problem is the dilemma that seems to plague so many offices in the corporate world; making the choice of being in compliance with all rules and regulations or being productive. I refuse to believe these two very vital components of a successful business cannot co-exist. The solution to this, and the other various problems I would love to attempt solving can be found within the walls of the Software Development hemisphere.

Created an itinerary builder application with a 3-member team. Individually responsible for the parks module which collected user input, leveraged JSON Server to ping an external API, rendered search results to the DOM, and saved the user’s selections.
Heavy emphasis placed on developing skills for coding in a team environment. The ability to push and merge master files successfully as a team in Github is as crucial as the code being written.
Built a single-page social-media app with the React framework while utilizing JSON for persistent data storage. The app allowed users to create and share events, tasks, and news articles to their own personal dashboard. This was a team project where I was responsible for building the functionality of the tasks/to-do list portion of the app. Users were given the ability to create a task, select a due date ("complete by"), and mark that task complete.
